The Challenge
In this case, the problems were already clear.
A manufacturer was under pressure—cash was tight, parts were late, and the electropolish process had become a bottleneck. First Articles sat in inspection, starving the process of feedback and slowing everything behind it.
Leaders needed more output. The team needed a better way to approach the work.
So we took a different approach.
Instead of jumping to fixes, we introduced a simple rhythm—short check-ins throughout the day to step back, look at the work, and work through it together.
One obstacle at a time. Try something. See what happens. Adjust.
At first, the instinct was still to react. Over time, that started to shift.
The Result
The conversations changed. The team began working through problems instead of jumping to answers.
And the results followed.
Output peaked from 391 to 600 parts per day, a 53% increase in four days. The week-to-week average jumped 415.8 → 480.6 (+15.6%) without adding people or equipment. The progress came as problems were handled by the team instead of being escalated.
